Saint Laurent Collège

Hedi Slimane, currently at Celine, was the creative director at Yves Saint Laurent from 2012 until 2016. His time at the house was marked by many bold, rebellious decisions, which resulted in polarized responses from the fashion community. He dropped Yves from the house’s name, relocated its atelier from Paris to Los Angeles, blurred gender lines with unisex ready-to-wear silhouettes, and infused all his collections with rock and roll aesthetics. Though many disagreed with his approach, he doubled Saint Laurent’s revenue and renewed its credibility among young consumers.

More about Saint Laurent Collège

While at Saint Laurent, Slimane released the College bag in his Pre-Fall 2015 collection. An envelope-style crossbody bag, the Saint Laurent College features many of Slimane’s edgy codes: a (removable) chain strap, a YSL logo snap, and chevron overstitching. It is available in four sizes (mini, small, medium, and large), a variety of colors, and Lambskin leather.

To achieve the famous ‘Hedi Slimane rocker chic’ look, style your Saint Laurent College Bag with a leather jacket and black denim.

The Saint Laurent College Bag can still be found in stores. But, you can shop pre-loved and get a piece from Hedi Slimane’s highly coveted archives for much less (under $1,500!). Since he joined Celine, dropping the accent from its ‘e’, all his designs have gained even more notoriety.
